Items required for EM Activation:

  • EM Stock Solution- 1 Liter
  • Jaggery – 1 KG
  • Water – 18 Liters
  • Air tight container approx capacity to hold 20 liter- 1


Please take one kg (or liter) of jaggery (or molasses), mix thoroughly with 18 liters of Non chlorinated water and add one liter of EM stock solution. Keep this solution in a air tight container for 5 to 7 days. Open the container lid daily to release the gas farmed during the fermentation process to produce around 20 liters AEM (Activated Effective Microorganism).

As the ideal microbial composition of AEM will deteriorate over time, it should be used within one month. Users are advised to prepare only so much of AEM as can be used within one month.

AEM solution can be prepared with the help of rice washing water where jaggery is not available.
